T4/W2 - Cleaners Many people who employ cleaners who are below the PAYE and NIC thresholds, do not worry about asking them to sign a P-46. However, in order to protect yourself, in the event of a PAYE inspection, ensure that your cleaner has signed one, as if they have other employments or are receiving a pension, and you have not been deducting income tax, you may find yourself liable for their income tax. Ensure they sign it and they’ve ticked either statement A or B, then file it in your Payroll file. There is a section on the P38A, which accompanies you Employer’s Annual Return (P35) for you to sign at the end of the tax year and submit to the Inland Revenue. |
