PH2 - Health and safety New legal requirements state that non-residential buildings built before 1985 must be surveyed for asbestos. This law is more likely to affect larger industrial premises, but pharmacies should be aware that a survey is mandatory. Every year the Chemists Defence Association deals with claims from people who have slipped and fallen. If this happens outside the shop, it may be difficult to determine who is responsible but if someone trips over a loose carpet tile or slips on polythene wrapping paper inside, then the finger points at you. Look at your whole pharmacy from the risk management point of view. Are there uneven steps to the entrance? Are there boxes for customers to fall over? |
